General Information
From the creeks in the Sandy Straits, to the famous flats, to blue water baitballs – fishing Hervey bay is unique as anglers can target the best of both southern and northern Australian species.
You will use a 9 to 11-weight rod and cast clousers or surf candies to breaking schools of pelagics such as tuna and mackerel. An intermediate line is best suited to this type of fishing and works well when fishing the flats. Flats flies such as crabs and shrimp should be tied slightly heavier – with medium lead eyes and a sink tip line is useful to keep your flies on the bottom. Tailing golden trevallies are a special treat and are anxious to eat a well-presented fly.
The small black marlins are usually teased to the boat but free swimmers are regularly encountered. Having a strong double haul and accurate cast may yield the fish of a lifetime. Billfish flies are provided but pink and white are favored colors if tying your own.
From first-timers and novice anglers to seasoned world travelers – Hervey Bay fly and sportfishing can cater to a variety of abilities.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS – CANCELLATIONS
A non-refundable deposit of 50% per person is due at the time of booking to hold both space and guides. Full pre-payment is due 90 days prior to date of trip. For cancellations, all deposits and payments are non-refundable, and because of the operator’s strict no refund policy, Yellow Dog strongly recommends the purchase of trip cancellation insurance. Hervey Bay Sportfishing will not refund payments in the event of poor weather, and no refund can be made for unused arrangements or fishing time lost due to inclement weather. If the operator decides to cancel the tour due to unsafe weather conditions, then a trip credit may be issued for a future date within one year of original trip dates. Please note that this is entirely at the discretion of the operator. If a cancelled package is resold by either the operator or by Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures, then a full refund will be sent minus a $100.00 per person cancellation fee charged by Yellow Dog. Receipt of deposit and/or final payment is acknowledgment that registrant has read and accepts the deposit, cancellation, refund and responsibility clauses for these packages. Once again, Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures strongly recommends that anglers and guests purchase travel insurance for this trip.
Payment Terms for All Yellow Dog Trip Bookings
Unless otherwise noted on your invoice, for all trips less than 90 days out, full payment is required after receipt of the confirmation email to secure guides and reservations. For trips outside of 90 days, a 50% deposit is required upon receipt of confirmation email to confirm your reservations.
Yellow Dog accepts on-line payments via a secure payment portal – a quick and easy way to complete your trip reservation. Please reach out to accounting@yellowdogflyfishing.com to gain access.
